Power outage affecting 200 residents in east valley

Multiple electrical poles that are down in the eastern side of the valley caused at least 200 residents to be without power Tuesday morning, according to NV Energy’s website.

Those who live within the 89104 area, near East Charleston Boulevard and South Main Street, experienced the outage about 6:30 a.m. More than 200 customers were affected, but that number has since dropped to 44 customers.

The website indicates a car accident caused the outage, but details on the accident were unclear.

An NV Energy spokesman said a pole could have been hit and broken, resulting in tension on other electrical poles. He said poles were on the ground.

Las Vegas police were directing traffic for a power-related issue in a residential area possibly affected by the outage, near South Frank Street and East Utah Avenue.

The website estimates power should be back up about 1:30 p.m.
