Power restored to more than 13,000 NV Energy customers

More than 13,000 NV Energy customers in and around Summerlin were without power for about two hours Sunday evening, according to the company’s online outage tracker.

The site listed the cause of the outages as a “transformer problem.”

Power was restored to the affected customers just after 8 p.m.

Summerlin Hospital and Medical Center was also without power for an hour or so, according to Valley Health System spokeswoman Gretchen Papez. She said a backup generator at the hospital kept vital life-saving systems operational throughout the outage.

The two areas most affected by the outages were the 89144 and 89134 ZIP codes.
