Troopers to again ride on semis to target aggressive drivers

The Nevada Highway Patrol is again putting troopers in the cab of big rigs around Las Vegas for an enforcement effort aimed at increasing traffic safety around large trucks and buses.

Trooper Jeremie Elliott said the Badge on Board program will have troopers watching for aggressive drivers today through Friday on U.S. Highway 95 and Interstate 15.

The Badge on Board program in Nevada began in 2008. It included a three-day enforcement effort in July.

It lets troopers in trucks contact officers in marked patrol vehicles to stop and issue citations to motorists traveling too close or cutting in front of big rigs.

This week a trailer and billboards will be posted with safety messages, and motorists will hear local radio public service announcements.
