Two children injured in separate pedestrian accidents
Two children were injured but are expected to recover after being hit by vehicles in separate crashes Thursday.
Officer Laura Meltzer said a green pickup struck a juvenile just after 7:15 a.m. Thursday at Sahara Avenue and Sloan Lane, east of the Desert Rose Golf Course.
Meltzer also said a black sedan hit a child about 7:45 p.m. at Decatur Boulevard south of Sahara Avenue, west of downtown, near the Sahara Pavilion South shopping center.
Police said both juveniles were taken to the hospital with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening.
It's not clear yet whether the children were in crosswalks when they were hit. School officials are checking to see if they were students at nearby campuses.
The drivers in both cases were being questioned by police.
