Two men were killed and a woman was critically injured Sunday morning in a single-car crash in the northwest valley, which may have occurred when the driver was racing an unidentified black sports car, Las Vegas police said.
The identities of the deceased men, a 21-year-old from Las Vegas and a 19-year-old from North Las Vegas, were not released. Police said 22-year-old Jennifer Schneider of Las Vegas was critically injured.
Police said at about 6:30 a.m., the 21-year-old man was driving a 2006 Nissan 350Z carrying the two other passengers. The sports car was traveling east on Centennial Center Boulevard, east of Grand Montecito Parkway and south of the Las Vegas Beltway.
The 350Z failed to maintain its lane, slid sideways up onto the raised median and struck a palm tree on a curve in front of several car dealerships.
The 350Z rolled over onto its roof. The woman was partially ejected. The two men were pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash marked the 76th and 77th traffic-related fatalities in the Metropolitan Police Department's jurisdiction this year.
Anyone with information on the black sports car is urged to call Detective P. David Rooney of the department's Fatal Detail at 702-828-8189 or Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.
