Wet ‘n’ Wild gets OK to serve alcohol again this year

Clark County commissioners approved a permit Wednesday that will allow Wet ‘n’ Wild to serve alcoholic drinks at the water park.
There were some neighborhood concerns about serving alcohol in the area, which is zoned residential. But the water park, at 7055 S. Fort Apache Road, had a temporary alcohol license last summer and experienced no safety or operational problems because of serving alcohol, according to its application.
Swimmers won’t be able to slip down a water slide with beer bottle in hand.
Instead, the rules are intended to keep alcohol usage on the tame side — and not on the wild side.
The rules will keep the alcoholic beverages confined to a fenced 1,500-square foot patio area only accessible to patrons over 21 years old. The park will only serve beer and wine products, limiting consumption to two drinks per person. Alcohol won’t be served on days when classes are in session at nearby Faiss Middle School, according to the application.
County staff recommended the permit, subject to a review after one year.
The water park in Henderson is allowed to sell alcohol. Cowabunga Bay Water Park has a license to sell beer and wine products, Henderson city records show.
