Woman severely burned in North Las Vegas senior complex fire

An elderly woman suffered severe burns Wednesday morning after an early morning at her North Las Vegas apartment.

North Las Vegas firefighters responded about 2:40 a.m. to the Salvation Army Silvercrest Apartments, at 2801 Equador Ave., near Cheyenne Avenue.

The woman had burns on 80 percent of her body. She was taken to University Medical Center in critical condition.

There were no other injuries. The cause of the fire remained under investigation.
