Interstate 15 is open after being closed for nearly four hours following two crashes that left a woman dead and three injured Friday, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.
The initial crash happened about 9 a.m. in the southbound lanes of I-15 near Glendale at mile marker 88 about 50 miles outside of Las Vegas and caused the right southbound lane to be closed, trooper Chelsea Stuenkel said.
The crash involved a motorcycle whose driver and passenger were flown to University Medical Center with serious but nonlife-threatening injuries, NHP said.
A second crash that left a woman dead was reported near mile marker 90 and caused both of the southbound lanes to be shut down, Stuenkel said. A Dodge pickup side-swiped a Toyota Yaris and then crashed into the back of a stopped semitruck. The driver of the Dodge was driven to UMC with serious injuries, and the female passenger was flown to UMC in critical condition. She later died at the hospital.
The Clark County coroner will identify her after her family is notified.
