Northern Nevada arts group gets $50k Andy Warhol foundation grant

CARSON CITY, Nev. — The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts has awarded a $50,000 grant to a Carson City arts organization.

Sharon Rosse of the Capital City Arts Initiative says the grant will allow the group to continue producing exhibitions and public talks in 2015 and 2016 for the benefit of northern Nevadans.

The artist-centered organization is committed to promoting the arts and culture in the Carson City area through exhibitions, live events, education programs, artist residencies and online projects.

Before Andy Warhol died in 1987, he directed the bulk of his estate to go to a foundation dedicated to the advancement of the visual arts.

The foundation supports a wide variety of organizations and projects worldwide, particularly work that is experimental, under-recognized or challenging in nature.
