One person killed in three-motorcycle crash near Searchlight

One person was killed and another was injured in a three-motorcycle crash Sunday afternoon on U.S. Highway 95 near Searchlight, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred about 4:05 p.m. on U.S. 95 near mile marker 30, confirmed Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper and Public Information Officer Chelsea Stuenkel.

One person was flown by helicopter to UMC in Las Vegas.

The incident closed both southbound and northbound lanes to enable the helicopter to land after the crash Sunday, but the southbound lanes were reopened shortly afterward, Stuenkel said. Northbound lanes remained closed as of 9:45 p.m. Sunday, but motorists were allowed to pass via the highway shoulder, she said.

No additional information was immediately available, and the crash is under investigation.
