Section of I-15 damaged by flood reopens

A section of Interstate 15 north of Las Vegas is ready for traffic again after suffering damage during a late-September flash flood.

The Nevada Department of Transportation announced Wednesday that repairs to the road finished two days early and lanes were expected to open later that afternoon.

Traffic on the portion of road about 75 miles north of Las Vegas and south of Mesquite has been limited to one lane each way since repairs started Sept. 30.

State transportation engineer Mary Martini said finishing two days early is worth $4 million to businesses that rely on the interstate.
