The Epicurean Charitable Foundation Las Vegas honored Bill McBeath and Sandy Peltyn at its 10-year anniversary dinner May 4. McBeath, president and chief operating officer of Aria, and community philanthropist Peltyn were recognized for their accomplishments and support of the local hospitality industry.

So are Las Vegas illustrator Louise Schroeder’s characters from “The Blues Go Birding Across America.” The Blues started out as a whimsical art series Schroeder created starring cartoonish blue birds traveling to see realistic birds. The Henderson Bird Viewing Preserve has undergone some renovations to enhance the experience for bird-watchers. The improvements include bird blinds, observation decks and an outdoor classroom.

With the June 14 opening of the Positively Kids Family Healthcare Clinic at the Child Haven campus, 701 N. Pecos Road, life for both foster parents and children could change. The clinic will provide medical and dental care for children up to 18 years old, who are in the system and elsewhere.
