Man killed in Monday accident on U.S. 95 identified

The man killed in a collision on U.S. Highway 95 near the Mount Charleston turnoff on Monday morning has been identified by the Clark County coroner’s office as 28-year-old Miguel Sanchez of Henderson.

Just after 5 a.m., Sanchez, driving a gray Honda Civic, was traveling south in the northbound lanes of U.S. 95 when he collided head-on with a white Chevrolet pickup, overturning the truck.

Sanchez was pronounced dead at the scene.

Nevada Highway Patrol trooper Jeremie Elliott said that the driver of the pickup was moving around after the crash but was taken to University Medical Center with moderate injuries.

Traffic was backed up because of the collision, causing a second minor crash roughly two miles south of the original collision site.
