2 boaters still missing at Lake Mead Saturday afternoon

Crews were still searching Saturday for two men who went missing at Lake Mead.

The body of 48-year-old Oscar Dixon Jr., of North Las Vegas, was discovered Friday about a half-mile north of their overturned boat. The Clark County coroner’s office had not determined an exact cause of death Saturday, but he was found without a lifejacket.

Teams from the National Park Service, Nevada Department of Wildlife and Las Vegas police were scouring a 7-mile stretch of the lake on both the Arizona and the Nevada side.

The men’s 1977 Glastron boat was taken out of the water, but there was no sign of the missing individuals.

The police’s search and rescue dive team was standing by in case any of the vessels got a blip on their sonar devices.

A family member reported them missing Thursday night after they failed to check in during their weekend boating trip.
