20-year-old indicted for death of mother’s boyfriend

A 20-year-old man was indicted by a grand jury on charges he killed his mother’s boyfriend and wounded another man after an argument in September, prosecutors said Wednesday.

Rolandis Summers faces three counts, including murder with use of a deadly weapon, attempted murder with use of a deadly weapon and burglary.

On Sept. 10, Las Vegas police found two roommates had been shot inside their apartment in the 200 block of Orland Street near U.S. Highway 95 and Jones Boulevard.

Anthony Merritt, who was shot in the head, was found dead when officers arrived. Antoine Bronson was shot in the leg.

According to a police report, Bronson, Merritt and Merritt’s girlfriend, Antressa Summers, were arguing over a debt involving money and drugs.

During the argument, Antressa Summers’ son, Rolandis Summers, entered the apartment and shot Merritt in the head, the report stated. He then shot Bronson who was in the bathroom.

Rolandis Summers said the he fired the shots out of fear and in self-defense. He said Merritt made a gang threat toward him.

Rolandis Summers is being held at the Clark County Detention Center without bail.
