ASSEMBLY DISTRICT No. 15
Five-term incumbent Kathy McClain probably won't have to break a sweat to defeat fellow Democrat Patrick Boylan in a primary election contest for Assembly District 15.
That's because Boylan, a former member of the Nevada State Board of Education, decided to suspend his campaign. But it was too late to have his name withdrawn from the ballot, he said.
After speaking to McClain, Boylan decided not to hurt another Democrat's chances by campaigning against her, he said.
"I did it to help fellow Democrats."
The winner of the McClain-Boylan contest will compete in the general election for the seat against Republican Dale Snyder.
McClain serves as chairwoman of the Taxation Committee. She holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from Regis College and a master's degree in public administration from UNLV.
The assemblywoman did not return calls seeking comment.
