Bodies of two people found in burned house in foreclosure

Two people found dead in a house that burned in Reno had heavily fortified the house, which was in foreclosure, possibly in anticipation that sheriff's deputies would be coming to evict them, police said.

The deputies showed up Tuesday morning and heard gunshots when they announced themselves, noticed the house was on fire and took cover.

The victims are thought to be an 83-year-old woman and her 46-year-old son, who lived for decades in the house, which was sold at auction this month.

The bodies were removed from the rubble Wednesday.

Authorities didn't know the cause of death. Police Lt. Robert Nuttall said no weapons were found.
