Both sides of ex-item in town

Here's your delicious twist of fate for the weekend: Dave Navarro is in town to perform with Camp Freddy on Saturday night at the Palms -- about the exact same time that his ex Carmen Electra will make a celebrity appearance at the Rio's Crown nightclub with her fiance, Rob Patterson.

As for Navarro, he once again will be surrounded by hot girls because the openers for Camp Freddy are the fine, upstanding young lasses of the Strip show "X Burlesque."

And Camp Freddy's cast is a good one -- Navarro, Mark McGrath (Sugar Ray), Billy Duffy (The Cult), Steve Jones (Sex Pistols), Donovan Leitch Jr. (Nancy Boy) and Matt Sorum (Guns N' Roses, Velvet Revolver).

Meanwhile, Electra will cheer on Patterson as he performs a DJ set and pounds out guitar solos.

I have to say, I've had occasion to see Electra and Navarro hanging out (separately) at parties. And they are two of the nicest, kind-to-strangers celebrities I've ever encountered. Truly, they are sweethearts. Take it for what it's worth. (I can't vouch for Patterson because I've never met him or, for that matter sadly, the naked girls of "X.")

OMG, BECKY, IT'S RICHARD CHEESE

One of the most genius acts this town has ever heard, Richard Cheese and Lounge Against the Machine, plays at Wasted Space at the Hard Rock Hotel on Sunday night.

If you've never seen the Cheese onstage or on "Jimmy Kimmel Live," he sings rock and rap songs in the style of a lounge lizard. That's a good concept. But what makes him and his band awesome is their execution: They sublimely (and often hilariously) perform musically outstanding arrangements of classics such as Radiohead's "Creep," Sir Mix-a-Lot's "Baby Got Back" and Khia's "My Neck, My Back." (Don't believe me? YouTube him.)

I wish Cheese did up Vegas every week. Alas, this is his only Strip show of 2010. Check out my Marxist interview with him in today's Neon section, where he says:

"We played a bar mitzvah a few weeks ago in upstate New York. I'll take anyone's money."

PRE-SIGHTINGS

Pam Anderson turned 43 on July 1, but she does her Vegas birthday party at Tao nightclub Saturday night and hangs at Tao Beach during the day, so keep an eye out for her floaties. ... And Jessica Hall and Brandie Moses do man-on-the-street interviews for their naughty Playboy Radio show tonight at Crown nightclub.
