Constable picked to fill Mohave County supervisor’s post

KINGMAN, Ariz. — Jean Bishop, a constable in Mohave County, has been appointed to a vacancy created by the May 19 death of District 4 county Supervisor Joy Brotherton.

She was appointed by the county Board of Supervisors on Monday.

The county attorney’s office determined that the timing of Brotherton’s death, near the election, creates an odd scenario for completing her term of office through 2016. Bishop is appointed as supervisor through the end of this year and she’s also among a group of 10 candidates running to serve out the remaining two years of Brotherton’s term.

Bishop has resigned her Cerbat Constable’s position. That too, will be filled by a Board of Supervisor’s appointment.
