Ex-councilwoman to serve on Board of Regents
Gov. Jim Gibbons named a Southern Nevada educator and former Boulder City councilwoman to the state's Board of Regents on Monday.
Andrea Anderson, who will replace former Regent Stavros Anthony, retired this year after serving as the site manager at the College of Southern Nevada's Boulder City campus. She ended eight years on Boulder City's council this summer, citing a desire to spend more time with her husband, who is also retired.
Anthony resigned from the board after being elected to the Las Vegas City Council earlier this year. Anderson will represent District 12, which includes most of the rural parts of Clark County and Boulder City.
Anderson, 64, spent 26 years experience in higher education before her retirement, mostly with CSN. She has a doctorate in educational leadership from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
"I think the Board of Regents is going to be a perfect fit," Anderson said.
The board is a 13-member elected body that governs the higher education system.
