Excessive heat warning issued for Las Vegas

The National Weather Service has issued an excessive heat warning until 8 p.m. today in the Las Vegas Valley. Temperatures could rise to 112 degrees or higher.

Between June 26 and Aug. 7, excessive heat is defined when temperatures reach 112 degrees or higher.

Today will be mostly sunny with a high near 113, according to the weather service.

Temperatures are forecast to reach a high of 107 for the rest of the week.

The weather service recommends people stay hydrated, remain in air-conditioned buildings and check in on friends and neighbors.
