Federal agency to open new office for immigrants

The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services office, otherwise known as USCIS, is inviting anybody and everybody to tour its new office Monday at 5650 W. Badura Ave.

The open house will take place after an official ribbon cutting at 9 a.m. Local, state and federal partners are expected to attend the event, which ends at noon.

Carolyn Muzyka, the USCIS regional director and Las Vegas Mayor Pro Tem Stavros Anthony will speak at the event.

Mock naturalization interviews will be held to give the public a glimpse on how the immigration process unfolds.

Registration and reception start at 8:30 a.m.

USCIS is the agency within the Department of Homeland Security responsible for immigration benefits. The Las Vegas field office serves Clark, Esmeralda, Nye and Lincoln counties.
