Fifth Street School suffers roof damage in blaze
A two-alarm fire erupted Wednesday night at a historic Las Vegas school, damaging parts of its roof, officials said.
The fire at the Fifth Street School on Las Vegas Boulevard, near Clark Avenue, started about 6 p.m., said Tim Szymanski, spokesman for the Las Vegas Fire Department.
About 70 firefighters worked to put out the blaze, which was extinguished in about 15 minutes.
Szymanski said the cause of the fire was under investigation, and a damage estimate was unavailable. The school is being renovated.
