Fire damages restaurant under construction on Las Vegas Strip

A fire at a restaurant under construction at the Monte Carlo on the Las Vegas Strip caused an estimated $100,000 in damages early Tuesday morning.

According to Clark County Fire Department officials, one firefighter suffered a minor injury while putting out the 2:30 a.m. blaze on the ground floor of the two-story site of the forthcoming Double Barrel Roadhouse at Monte Carlo’s northern Las Vegas Boulevard entrance, 3770 Las Vegas Boulevard South.

The fire was contained to the restaurant’s bar area and nearby construction materials. There were no other injuries.

MGM Resorts spokesman Mary Hynes said in a brief statement, “Last night’s incident at Monte Carlo was minor. Hotel operations were not affected. No evacuations were necessary. Business today continues as usual and construction activity has resumed.”

The company was still assessing the damage, she said.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
