Firefighters rescue family of five plus cat from Las Vegas house fire

A family and cat were rescued from a burning home on the south side of the Las Vegas Valley Monday morning.

Clark County firefighters responded to 8065 Orchestra Ave., near the Las Vegas Beltway and Windmill Road, just before 5:30 a.m. and found a garage on fire.

The garage and attic above it were on fire, and 30 firefighters helped get it under control. They evacuated a woman and her four daughters from the home, as well as their pet cat. No one involved in the fire was injured.

The front of the home was badly burned, with damages estimated at $40,000. The cause is still under investigation.
