Funeral set for Nye County deputy

The funeral for Ian Michael Deutch, the Nye County Sheriff's Office deputy who was shot and killed Monday in Pahrump, will be Saturday in Las Vegas.

The service will be at 9:30 a.m. at Canyon Ridge Christian Church, 6200 Lone Mountain Road, just west of Jones Boulevard .

A public viewing for Deutch will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the Pahrump Family Mortuary, 5441 Vicki Ann Road.

A candlelight vigil will be Thursday at Terrible's Lakeside Casino & RV Park in Pahrump, the site where Deutch was shot.

Flower donations should be sent to the church, authorities said. A memorial fund has been established for Deutch at Nevada State Bank, account No. 0258040427.

Deutch, 27, was shot by James Chaffin, 30, in the casino parking lot Monday. The deputy died that night at University Medical Center in Las Vegas. Chaffin was shot and killed in the parking lot by another deputy, whose name has yet to be released.
