Girl hit by car while riding bicycle

North Las Vegas police said a 14-year-old girl who was struck by a car while riding her bicycle Saturday will make a full recovery.

The girl suffered head and abdominal injuries and was taken to University Medical Center in serious condition just before noon after the accident near Lone Mountain Road and Wild Oak Way.

Officers said the girl was not wearing a helmet when she turned onto Lone Mountain from her neighborhood and failed to yield to oncoming traffic. She was hit from behind by a Saturn sedan.

Police said the 62-year-old driver tried to avoid the girl and was not charged.
