Goss goes dark on Miguel dates

A scheduling coincidence? Or is Caesars Palace headliner Matt Goss keeping his distance from the guy who stole his girl?

Goss, who normally performs on Fridays and Saturdays at 10 p.m., is taking off Sept. 17-18, the same weekend that Latin singing star Luis Miguel is headlining at Caesars.

A 10-year relationship between Goss and model-turned-actress Daisy Fuentes ended earlier this year, with Fuentes reuniting with the Mexican crooner after the breakup.

Miguel had dated Fuentes for three years before she and Goss hooked up. It's not clear whether Miguel and Fuentes are still seeing each other.

Goss didn't mince words after published reports suggested Fuentes had cheated on him.

"This came as a shock, especially when you think you really know someone," he told Radaronline.com in January. "I wish her all the best and hope she finds whatever it is that she's searching for."

PUPPY LOVE

After a sleepless night grieving over the loss of one of her dogs, a groggy Alicia Jacobs was awakened by an 11 a.m. telephone call Thursday. On the phone was Tricia McCrone, Wayne Newton's publicist, saying she was at the security gate.

Jacobs, by her own admission, was "a basket case."

"She said she wanted to give me a hug," said Jacobs, whose 14-year-old miniature dachshund Pearlie Fay had died of kidney failure on Wednesday.

Jacobs hesitated and apologetically asked whether they could talk later. Just one hug, pleaded McCrone.

Jacobs agreed and went to the door in her pajamas.

When she opened the door, there stood Newton with a puppy that "looked like Pearlie Fay's clone," Jacobs said.

The 3-month-old was wearing a blue pullover with silver rhinestones. On the sweater, the wording: "What Happens in the Park, Stays in the Park."

"It was the sweetest thing anyone's ever done for me," said Jacobs, the entertainment report at KSNV-TV, Channel 3.

She's naming the little weiner dog Wayner Newton Jacobs.
