Highway Radio announces country music talent contest

Anticipation and excitement is higher than ever as aspiring country music artists prepare for the 29th annual Colgate Country Showdown at Don Laughlin's Riverside Resort on June 24 at 6 p.m. Highway Country (KIXW-FM and KIXF-FM) will host its 11th local contest in one of the world's largest country music talent searches and radio promotions in the nation.

Individual acts will compete for prizes and an opportunity to perform at the state contest. State winners vie for a $1,000 cash prize and will advance to a regional competition in the fall. The five regional winners are awarded an all-expense-paid trip to the national final where they will compete for the $100,000 grand prize and the national title.

The Colgate Country Showdown gives aspiring country music artists in America a chance to launch their professional careers. Audiences may be seeing, hearing and applauding one of the next country music stars.

Four hundred radio stations participate in the Showdown across the nation. The unique nature of Highway Country, which has two full-size radio towers that broadcast simultaneously across 40,000 square miles of the Southern California Mojave Desert to a vast listening audience of locals and millions of visitors on their way to Southern Nevada gambling and resort destinations, draws a very large pool of talent.

Due to popular demand the show has been moved to the Starview Room to provide ample seating for everyone that wants to attend. The show is free and open to all ages.
