Human remains are female

The human remains found in the back of a car in a Walmart parking lot Wednesday belonged to that of a woman, Las Vegas police said Thursday.

Her identity has not been released. Her possessions were with her and there were no signs of foul play, police said.

The remains were found in a car that was being driven by a woman who was reported missing July 25.

Police said the vehicle has been parked in the lot of the Walmart, at 6005 S. Eastern Ave., near Sunset Road, since July 24.

Store security contacted police about 5 p.m. Wednesday after discovering a strong odor coming from the vehicle. Police said the remains were in the trunk of the vehicle with the back seats folded down.
