ROBBERY, HOMICIDE

Two held in Henderson robbery and death

Two men were charged Wednesday in a November homicide in which a burned body was found in a desert area on Larson Lane, near Las Vegas Boulevard, Henderson police said.

Michael Smith, 29, and Dajaun Gamble, 25, were charged with the death of Jeffrey Anderson Jr.

Police believe the men robbed and killed Anderson before dumping his body in the remote area south of the Henderson Executive Airport. The 26-year-old's body was found Nov. 21.

Gamble was arrested Wednesday in Los Angeles. Smith has been in police custody since Mar. 24. The men were charged with murder, robbery and possession of stolen property, Henderson police spokesman Todd Rasmussen said.

Family files lawsuit in bus crash-related death

The family of a 73-year-old Primm casino worker who died after a 2008 bus crash is suing the charter bus company and others.

Relatives of Margaret Ann Guier filed a wrongful death and negligence lawsuit this week in District Court against Alan Waxler Group Charter Services, Bus and Coach International, Michelin North America, Inc., and others. The suit is asking for at least $100,000.

The lawsuit contends that the companies were negligent in operating a tour bus carrying more than two dozen Primm casino and retail shop employees on April 10, 2008.

The bus, traveling on Interstate 15, crashed into a concrete divider near St. Rose Parkway. At least 29 people were taken to local hospitals.

Guier died in January. The Clark County coroner's office determined that she died from pneumonia as well as from crash injuries.
