Las Vegas police hunt for suspect in slaying

Las Vegas police are searching for a suspect in an early Sunday shooting that left a 21-year-old man dead outside the Olive Mediterranean Grill and Hookah Bar, 3850 E. Sunset Road, near Sandhill Road.

Carlos Orellana, 23, is wanted in connection with the slaying, which happened at 12:01 a.m. Police said two other men were injured.

Orellana was seen driving a white 2008 Toyota four-door compact car with Nevada license plate LV 20P0.

The two other victims, a 20-year-old Las Vegas man and a 26-year-old man, were being treated for nonlife threatening injuries. One took himself to University Medical Center and reported being shot. The other, who was beaten, was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center.

Man shot by owner of shop dies in hospital

An unidentified man died Friday after he was shot by a southwest valley pawnshop owner who took him for a burglar, Las Vegas police said.

The owner of the Sahara Pawn Shop, 2400 S. Jones Blvd., near Sahara Avenue, told officers he fired because he thought the man had entered the store to rob him. The shooting happened at 5:07 p.m.

The wounded man was taken to University Medical Center, where he later died.

Detectives arrested the owner and booked him into the Clark County Detention Center on a charge of murder with a deadly weapon. Police did not identify the owner Sunday night.
