49-YEAR-OLD DIED MONDAY
Coroner identifies construction worker
The 49-year-old construction worker who died earlier this week at the Union Park redevelopment site in downtown Las Vegas was identified Tuesday as Angel Orozco-Pio, according to the county coroner's office.
The cause of Orozco-Pio's death is still pending.
North Las Vegas resident Orozco-Pio died about 7:45 a.m. Monday at the site near Bonneville Avenue and Grand Central Parkway,.
Tim Szymanski, spokesman for the Las Vegas Fire Department, said the man was working with a concrete pipe in a 4-foot-deep trench when he died.
The state's Occupational Safety and Health Administration, or OSHA, is investigating.
Union Park is a 61-acre former railroad yard. Last month marked the start of a sewer and infrastructure installation project for the $9 billion urban center.

Developer to fill seat on planning board
An area developer will fill a seat on the Clark County Planning Commission.
Roland M. Sansone was appointed to the board Tuesday to represent Commissioner Bruce Woodbury in District A. Sansone's term will begin immediately and end Jan. 5, 2009.
President of Sansone Development, a real estate development company, he moved to the area from California in 1978 and has a keen interest in drought-tolerant landscaping.
"His passion for beautifying Southern Nevada through high architectural standards and attractive landscaping, combined with his extensive experience in neighborhood-friendly development, are strong attributes," Woodbury said in a written statement.
