Teacher arrested, accused of lewd acts

A science and broadcasting teacher at Garrett Middle School in Boulder City has been arrested on charges he committed lewd acts with female students.

Brett Storsved, 38, was charged with six felony counts of lewdness with a child under 14 and one gross misdemeanor count of open and gross lewdness.

Storsved was arrested Thursday morning at his home in Boulder City, a day after the district attorney's office issued an arrest warrant in the case, Boulder City police said.

The incidents occurred at the middle school during the 2006-07 school year and involved seven female victims, police said.

Storsved was booked into the Clark County Detention Center, where he was being held on $21,000 bail.

A man was found shot to death Thursday morning near Lake Mead Boulevard and D Street, Las Vegas police said.

Police were searching for suspects Thursday.

VICTIM WOUNDED

Las Vegas man accused in shooting in Utah

A Las Vegas man has been arrested in a shooting that left a 45-year-old man paralyzed, the Garfield County sheriff's office in Utah said.

Jasson Hines, 24, was booked for investigation of 15 counts, including attempted murder and attempted kidnapping, in the Friday shooting of Tracy Armstrong at Panguitch Lake, according to the sheriff's office and court documents.

Hines and his girlfriend were joining a family reunion at the lake and were checking in with Armstrong, who owns the cabins in which the group was staying.

Armstrong was at the check-in desk when he was shot once in the neck and twice in the chest with a .38-caliber pistol, the sheriff's office said.

Hines and Armstrong had not met before, and the sheriff's office said the attack was unprovoked.

The sheriff's office said Hines' girlfriend took the gun and hid it from him before fleeing to a campground. The sheriff's office said he tried to abduct a child and steal a car before he was arrested.

Hines made an initial court appearance Thursday and was ordered to remain in jail.
