Las Vegas police investigating apparent murder-suicide

Las Vegas police are investigating an apparent murder-suicide that occurred in the northeast valley Saturday afternoon.

Officers were called to a neighborhood near Sandhill and Twain avenues about 3:55 p.m. after a report of a deceased woman inside a home, according to Metropolitan Police Department Lt. Steve Herpolsheimer. Officers found the body and when checking the rest of the residence in the 3800 block of Catamaran Circle, discovered a man inside the garage with a gunshot wound to the head.

The man, who showed signs of life when he was found, died in the ambulance en route to the hospital.

Herpolsheimer said both the man and woman appeared to be in their 40s. He said it appears to be a murder-suicide, but the relationship between the two is unknown.

"There were two people dead inside the house," Herpolsheimer said. "We assume they may know each other but until we complete the investigation, we don't know."
