Jerry Lewis to film television special

Comedy king Jerry Lewis clearly isn't ready to quietly fade into retirement.

Still a dynamo at 86, he's returning to the spotlight on Nov. 18 at The Orleans to film a PBS special titled "An Evening With Jerry Lewis - Live from Las Vegas!"

The plan is to air the premiere in March, near Lewis' birthday.

He has been busy this year preparing for what he hoped would be a return to Broadway with a musical version of "The Nutty Professor" based on the 1963 movie of the same name that Lewis directed and starred in.

Lewis was to direct the Broadway show. However, the recent death of composer Marvin Hamlisch, who had finished the score, has created some uncertainty.

The Orleans show will be produced by Jimmy Osmond and George Paige.

Lewis will discuss his storied career, show rare film clips and take questions from the audience.

Anyone who has followed Lewis' career knows that a live show - with Q&A - presents all sorts of juicy headline-generating possibilities.

OUT FOR BLOOD

An estimated 1,000 people got all the gory details after experiencing the carnage inside Eli Roth's Goretorium on Thursday.

Spattered blood appeared to be the preferred dress code among the zombie-and-decapitation crowd.

Roth, the horror film director, set the tone with a ribbon cutting that featured a chain saw.

I'm guessing those drinks were a twisted version of a bloody mary.

The year-round haunted attraction includes a "cleanup" sink in front of a glass wall that streaks with blood every time a faucet is turned on.

The black carpet crowd included: musician Dave Navarro, Teller of Penn & Teller, the Jabbawockeez, "LA Ink" tattoo artist Corey Miller, "Ghost Adventurers" creator Zak Bagans, Victoria Asher of Cobra Starship, rapper DJ Paul of Three 6 Mafia, "Inglourious Basterds" actor Omar Doom, Guns N' Roses lead guitarist DJ Ashaba, HGTV "Design Star" winner Antonio Ballatore, Miss Nevada USA 2012 Jade Kelsall, former Miss USA Shanna Moakler and boxer Zab Judah.
