Jurors in patient sex assault case raise question, continue deliberations

Jurors have deliberated more than three days without reaching a verdict in the sexual assault trial of Steven Farmer, a certified nursing assistant accused of victimizing five female patients in 2008 at Centennial Hills Hospital Medical Center.
The jury began deliberating Monday afternoon and sent out its first question late Thursday.
Farmer faces 15 counts, including five counts of sexual assault involving two women.
On Thursday, the jury sent a written question to District Judge Carolyn Ellsworth regarding one count of open or gross lewdness, a gross misdemeanor.
The count involves a former patient who said Farmer rubbed his groin in a circular motion against the bottom of her feet while she lay in a hospital bed in April 2008.
Jurors wanted a definition of “willful intent.” Ellsworth told attorneys she would point jurors to related instructions she had given them at the start of their deliberations.
The judge also said she would ask the panel to return Friday morning to continue deliberating.
