Lake Havasu City man found dead after motorcycle crash

A Lake Havasu City man was killed in a weekend motorcycle accident in northwest Arizona.

Mohave County Sheriff’s office spokeswoman Trish Carter said Daniel Robert Smith, 50, the victim of the accident on the Oatman Highway, was found Saturday morning.

Carter said investigators believe the crash about 2.4 miles north of Topock occurred sometime Friday night.

“The motorcycle went off the roadway into the dirt shoulder after it failed to negotiate a turn traveling southbound,” Carter said. “The motorcycle then hit the dirt embankment where Smith was thrown from the motorcycle.”

Carter said the helmet Smith was wearing was damaged in the crash. The accident remains under investigation.
