Las Vegas event to help veterans connect with services

The second annual Nevada Global War on Terrorism Veterans Conference will be conducted on Saturday at the Hard Rock Hotel.

All veterans, their families and advocates can attend the conference, which will focus on services that will be provided by a variety of veterans' organizations.

The featured luncheon speaker will be retired Gen. Scott Smith, director of the Institute for Strategic Studies at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

"While many of their needs are being addressed by groups dedicated to assisting our returning troops, there is still a serious need to introduce our veterans to the people and agencies that support them," Nevada Lt. Gov. Brian Krolicki said.

He is promoting the conference.

For more information or to register, Nevadans can visit the registration page on the lieutenant governor's Web site, http://ltgov.nv.gov/, or call 775-684-7122.
