Las Vegas teacher accused of similar lewd behavior in 2007

Police say a Las Vegas gym teacher arrested Friday and accused of public masturbation faced similar charges in 2007. A police report made public Tuesday alleged 35-year-old Timothy Lawson left campus during school hours several times to masturbate in public.

Police said they were able to identify him after former students saw him touching himself in public.

Lawson is a physical education teacher and wrestling coach at Cimarron-Memorial High School. He was hired in 2005.

Lawson was arrested for similar conduct in Las Vegas in 2007. He pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct charges and said he blacked out during the incidents. Clark County school officials said Tuesday they were unaware of the 2007 charges and would seek his dismissal. He is on paid leave.
