Man, 33, dies after car hits wall in Las Vegas

A 33-year-old Las Vegas man died after he was involved in a single-vehicle crash Friday night on Lake Mead Boulevard near Marion Drive, Las Vegas police said.

The identity of the deceased man was not released.

Police said the 8:37 p.m. crash occurred when the driver of a 2006 Dodge Stratus, headed west on Lake Mead, attempted to pass a slower-moving car.

Police said when he completed the pass, he lost control and the car began a clockwise rotation across the center and right westbound lanes.

The Stratus left the road on the north side of Lake Mead and struck a concrete wall, police said. The driver was taken to University Medical Center where he died from his injuries this morning. Police said speed appears to be a primary factor in the accident.
