Man accused of injuring officer is arrested

Federal and local law enforcement officers on Tuesday arrested a 29-year-old man wanted for ramming his car into the vehicle of an Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer last week, injuring the officer.

Lon Allen Clark was charged with assault on a federal officer in the Sept. 17 incident.

ICE officers were attempting to detain Clark for questioning about 8:30 p.m. as he was parked outside a home on the 2400 block of San Marcos Street, near Pecos Road and Carey Avenue.

The officers were trying to enforce a routine court order for deportation, an ICE spokeswoman said.

Clark drove his vehicle into one of the ICE vehicles, police said. One ICE officer fired at least one shot before Clark escaped, police said.

On Tuesday, officers with the Criminal Apprehension Team located Clark. He was arrested while trying to hide in a shed near Lamb Boulevard and Owens Avenue, police said.

Records show that in the past decade Clark has faced charges of possession of a controlled substance, battery with a deadly weapon and evading a police officer.
