Man accused of killing former Olympian appears in court
The man accused of shooting and killing a former Olympic boxer appeared briefly in court this morning.
Roger Randolph, 26, was in Las Vegas Justice Court via teleconference from the county jail to answer charges that he killed boxer Rhoshii Wells in August near Nellis Boulevard and Bonanza Road.
Justice of the Peace Melissa Saragosa assigned the public defender's office to represent Randolph. He will be in court again on December 9 for a preliminary hearing.
Authorities said Randolph shot and killed Wells after the two men had an argument, possibly over a woman.
In a prior interview, Randolph said he shot and killed Wells in self-defense after Wells punched and robbed him of $100.
Wells, 31, was a father of five and won a bronze medal during the 1996 Olympics.
