Man held in death of woman found in back of apartment

A 22-year-old man was arrested in connection with the slaying of a young woman whose body was found in a back room of her apartment Sunday.

Las Vegas police on Monday said Fidel R. Apolinar was booked Sunday into the Clark County Detention Center on a charge of murder with a deadly weapon in the death of a woman found that same day at 3675 Cambridge St., near Paradise and Desert Inn Roads.

Police said the woman appeared to have suffered blunt-force trauma to her head and body.

The Clark County coroner's office had not identified the woman Monday. Police said she was in her mid- to late 20s.

Police could not be reached for comment on a possible motive in the slaying or whether Apolinar and the woman had a relationship.

Apolinar was jailed Monday afternoon without bail. He is scheduled to make his initial appearance in Justice Court this morning.
