Man held in shooting death of father-in-law

Las Vegas police on Wednesday arrested a man in connection with the shooting of his 93-year-old father-in-law at their Bunkerville home.

John Steven Biasi, 53, is facing a charge of murder in the Tuesday morning shooting of Andres Ramos, who was shot in the head.

Bunkerville paramedics responded to the family's home about 10 a.m. over a report that Ramos had fallen and cut his head, according to Biasi's arrest report.

A doctor at Mesa View Regional Hospital in Mesquite examined the wounds and requested an X-ray.

The results showed that a .22-caliber bullet was lodged in Ramos' brain, according to the report.

He was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, where he died Thursday.

When detectives interviewed Biasi, he was initially evasive, the report said. He later told detectives that he did have a .22-caliber rifle that he used to shoot Ramos, the report said.

He told detectives he went out the front door and aimed at Biasi's head from outside the residence, the report said. A .22-caliber shell casing was found near where Biasi said he fired the weapon, according to the report.

The report did not give a motive in the shooting.

Biasi is being held at the Clark County Detention Center without bail.
