Metro investigates downtown homicide

Metro is investigating a homicide in downtown Las Vegas that left one man dead Saturday morning, according to police.

Metro received calls of a single, very loud gunshot about 6:50 a.m. Upon arrival, officers discovered a man face down outside of a residence on North 10th Street near Maryland Parkway and Wilson Avenue.

Medical personnel pronounced the Hispanic man in his 30s dead at the scene, according to Metro Lt. Dan McGrath.

The deceased was shot once in the head with what police believe to be a high caliber gun, McGrath said.

Witnesses reported seeing a grey Toyota or Nissan pickup speeding away from the area about a minute after the shot was heard, police said.

There is no motive for the killing and no one has been taken into custody.

The Clark County coroner will release the identity of the man once family has been notified.
