Mild quake hits near Boulder City

A 3.9-magnitude earthquake with an epicenter about 16 miles east of Boulder City hit at 3:13 p.m. today, according to University of Nevada, Reno’s Seismological Lab.

Vibrations from the earthquake near Lake Mead were felt in Boulder City and Henderson, said Tom Rennie, a seismological technician with the lab.

“It was felt very lightly,” he said. “There wasn’t any real shaking.”

Rennie said he didn’t expect to see any damage from the small quake.
