21 protesters arrested at Nevada National Security Site

Twenty-one protesters were arrested Friday at the Nevada National Security Site, according to a release from the Nevada Desert Experience.

Forty-seven people gathered at an entrance to the site during a demonstration, the release said. The arrests, which included 10 men and 11 women, occurred just after 11 a.m. Friday.

This was the culmination of the annual Sacred Peace Walk hosted by the Nevada Desert Experience, the release said.

Earlier this week, the walkers held a vigil at Creech Air Force Base, where a protest against drone killings resulted in eight arrests, the release said.

The arrests followed several prayer services, Nevada Desert Experience said. Chief Johnnie Bobb of the Western Shoshone Nation led the group with an indigenous sunrise ceremony, before the Good Friday Nuclear Stations of the Cross Ceremony, the release said.
