26,800 flags placed at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery — PHOTOS

The National Order of Trench Rats local Dugout 421, a Disabled American Veterans’ auxiliary, led the charge Saturday for its 26th annual placement of flags, 26,800 in all, at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City. The Buffalo Soldiers and a group of post-9/11 veterans joined volunteers from the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Sea Cadets, Devil Pups and Civil Air Patrol to accomplish the task. On Monday, Memorial Day events begin at 10:30 a.m. at Mount Charleston’s Silent Heroes for the Cold War National Memorial. At 1 p.m., the annual Memorial Day ceremony will be held at the Boulder City veterans cemetery.
