More monsoon storms strike valley; flash flood threat for Saturday

Expect more monsoon storms for Labor Day weekend. At least for the first part.

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for Southern Nevada from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday. The watch also effects portions of eastern California and northwest Arizona.

The agency's forecast calls for "favorable conditions" for more thunderstorm development across the Las Vegas Valley during the day Saturday, which may lead to flash flooding.

On Aug. 22, parts of the valley were hit by flash flooding, leading to one death. McCarran International Airport received about 2 inches of rain during that storm, with some areas getting more.

Scattered thunderstorms have hit the valley in the last several days, including Henderson, Boulder City, Summerlin and Centennial Hills.
